Jen and Peter were married on a gorgeous day in Seattle, at the hip Hotel 1000. They both say that their favorite moment of the day was seeing each other for the first time, privately, before the ceremony. It was a very sweet and memorable experience, where they each got to say what they wanted to say to the other without worrying about the ceremony-in-progress, or a bunch of people watching them. From some distance, we were able to photograph a bit of that emotion… incredible!
Another super fun moment was sneaking off with Jen and Peter to the very spot where they first met – ten years ago! The friendly folks at Belltown Bistro were warm and welcoming, even bringing out some champagne. After a bit of reminiscing and making pretty pictures there, we played for a bit at the market, and then headed back to the hotel for the ceremony. Peter surprised Jen with a thoughtful gift – a beautiful necklace and earrings set she had admired earlier but passed up.
The ceremony and reception were a wonderful blending of families from four continents, and friends from all different times and places in their lives, all mingling together and getting along quite remarkably. People who had not been asked to prepare toasts jumped up spontaneously and shared priceless memories and sentiments. One stand-out gift on the table was a record of Barry White’s love songs (cool enough, but a message inside promised they’d be listening to the record on a brand-new turntable Jen and Peter’s friends had teamed up to buy).
Despite all the prior warnings from recently-married friends and relatives, they did not set aside any wedding cake for themselves and ended up cakeless on their wedding day! Their baker will be making them an anniversary cake, though, so they’ll just have to wait a year to find out if it was really as delicious as everyone said…
For their honeymoon, Jen and Peter enjoyed themselves in the Dominican Republic on the Punta Cana coast. When they missed their connection in New York, they just made the best of things, and had a great day visiting the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
