Janelle and Brad are a really fun couple to be around. They are intelligent and cool, they laugh easily, and they make other people feel welcomed and appreciated. The vibe at their wedding was one of “ease”… It was as though everything just hummed along smoothly without any effort (a sure sign that quite a bit of effort was taken, beforehand). Brad and Janelle were able to really enjoy themselves and their guests, which is a wonderful treat to see!
We started the day at the Woodmark Hotel, while they were getting ready. They shared a very romantic first glance on the dock, and then hopped into the limo and went to Gasworks Park for über fun pictures with the wedding party. From there, we headed to University Presbyterian Church for the beautiful tear-jerker ceremony. Janelle had pre-recorded a fabulously sweet message that played just before she walked down the aisle, expressing her love and gratitude for the important people present. It was an awesome surprise, and a very unique idea!
After the exchange of vows, Janelle had another little surprise in store for Brad… they jumped into a gorgeous white Rolls Royce, and zipped off to one of Brad’s favorite places – Dick’s! The busy burger joint enjoyed the excitement of seeing these very-newly newlyweds, and the line parted for them like they were royalty. Brad and Janelle fed each other burgers and fries, and sipped on thick, creamy milkshakes (we may have devoured a shake, too – yum).
Then we all headed back to the Woodmark, for the reception. The beautiful late afternoon/early evening golden light over the water was a surreal setting for the cocktail hour, and the sun set during the outdoor dinner, creating a flawless backdrop for the toasts. Everybody knows I’m a sucker for a good toast, but these were off the charts! My favorite teeny tiny snippet: Janelle’s twin sis Angie made the world’s greatest analogy about her relationship with her sister and Brad: reminding us that “third wheels” actually offer more stability, like a tricycle.
The dances were also great, with Janelle’s dad delivering a show-stealing performance. Guests who worked up an appetite while dancing were treated to a perfect late-night snack of sliders and sweet potato fries, and then milk and cookies. Another exciting addition to the party was the Live Photo Booth (check out the blog entry below!).
The whole day was just too enjoyable to describe. Huge congrats to Janelle and Brad!
