Carly and Thomas met two years ago, while playing on a co-ed volleyball team. At first, Carly thought they were total opposites: He was an Italian Texas Longhorn Cowboy; she was an all-american Oklahoma Sooner. When he bought her queso and a beer after a game, she wasn’t sure what to think. Her (obviously brilliant) friends all liked Thomas, though, and encouraged her to give him a chance. So Carly and Thomas had their first date at Roy’s, where they talked non-stop for four hours, and knew right away it was a done deal. It didn’t take long for these two to figure out that their differences really complimented each other, and they are a stronger couple because of them. Thomas planned to propose to Carly during a canoe trip. They were supposed to stop at the Four Seasons, where Carly’s dog Lola was waiting with champagne. The UT rowing competition was going on, though, so they couldn’t pull over there. Thomas found another pretty spot, hopped out of the canoe, and got down on one knee. He then surprised her again with a huge engagement party at Roy’s (if you’re paying attention, you’ll remember that this is where they had their first date!) with his entire family, her sister, and her closest friends – some of whom flew in just for the occasion. After the romantic proposal and fantastic party, she was completely floored when she woke up the next morning to yet another surprise – the rest of her family was waiting to meet the newly-engaged couple at brunch! Not surprising at all, Carly says this is the best weekend of their lives together so far…
